Front Entrance Gate

(Newport Beach)

ICINC was hired to build this gate for a client located in Newport Beach, CA. The client asked us what type of wood to use based upon the fact that their home is constantly impacted by the salt air, sun, and moisture being so close to the beach. We recommended red wood as this particular type of wood contains a chemical called “tannin” which prevents warping and is predominantly resistant to fungal diseases and insects. The challenge with this build was the ultra-high gloss finish the client wanted and this gate’s ability to withstand the weather and test of time. The entire gate was joined in a way to prevent any cracking by using epoxy, routered joints, and a biscuit joiner. Aside from UV resistant vinyl, this is absolutely the best result you can get while using real wood!
